CBH – your reliable partner

CBH Rechtsanwälte – the reliable partner at your side. With approximately 100 lawyers working for you throughout Germany we offer you top legal services combined with the efficiency, speed and flexibility of a medium-sized law firm. We serve our clients from offices in Cologne, Berlin, Brussels, Hamburg and Munich: proximity that counts.

We have experience that counts: CBH was founded in Cologne in 1963. Today, our firm is one of the TOP 50 commercial law firms in Germany. We focus on five strategic areas of commercial law:

  • Business & Finance
  • Human Resources & Social Services
  • IP, Media & IT
  • Construction & Real Estate
  • Administration & Economy

We provide the whole spectrum of legal services in each of our core areas. We advise a wide range of companies active in Germany and abroad. We also advise public-law bodies, trade associations, foundations, and individuals. We count many companies listed in Germany’s DAX blue chip stock market index among our clients. On the basis of our strong and durable client relationships we develop long-term strategies, draw up contracts, support our clients’ causes in negotiations, prepare legal opinions and represent our clients in administrative, court, and arbitration proceedings.

Our strategic focus means that we are able to advise you on every aspect of the Wirecard fraud scandal. Our “Bank and Capital Market Law” team is led by Paul H. Assies. He has had over 20 years’ experience in investment law, and was named “Top Lawyer for Bank and Capital Market Law” by the German news magazine FOCUS. Paul H. Assies advises and represents public and private banks, insurance companies, investment consultancies and leasing companies. Dr Roman Jordans is a specialist lawyer for banking and capital market law [Fachanwalt für Bank- und Kapitalmarktrecht] too. His main areas of expertise are (complex) litigation as well as commercial and company law. Katharina Schmidt advises companies on their contract arrangements and organisation, and she also represents companies in judicial proceedings in the context of complex contentious proceedings.

Our “Labour Law” team advises both employees and employers. Dr Thomas Ritter advises his clients in the field of non-profit tax law, among others; he also wrote the chapter “Die Aktiengesellschaft als gemeinnütziges Unternehmen” [The public limited company as non-profit enterprise] in the 2018 edition of the Münchener Anwaltshandbuch Aktienrecht [Lawyers’ manual on the law governing public limited companies].

The Wirecard scandal not only poses questions with regard to investment law; there are important issues that need to be clarified in connection with the liability attaching to directors and officers, as well as to supervisory boards. Our “Private and Public Commercial Law” team has also had years of in-depth practical experience. Johannes Ristelhuber is the right person to contact for post-merger issues, shareholder disputes, and special questions of commercial law. He represents creditors and debtors in disputes with insolvency administrators under procedural law, including legal proceedings contesting a debtor’s transactions.

All our lawyers are experienced trial lawyers. We have had decades of experience in the fields of liability in investment litigation, directors’ and officers’ liability, and the liability of public authorities.
