Hannes Jacobsen studied law at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich. During his vocational training he lived in the USA, the UK and the PRC. After his admission to the bar in 2011, he started to work at a renowned IP law firm.Hannes Jacobsen is a partner at CBH in Munich since July 2017. He advises in IP law, the focus of his work being in patent litigation as well as antitrust and competition law. Hannes Jacobsen regularly represents clients in patent and utility model litigation as well as in opposition and nullity proceedings. He advises clients at the interface of antitrust- and patent law, in particular with regard to license agreements and distribution.JUVE Patent’s ranking “Ones to Watch” for patent litigation in Germany, which has been issued for the first time in 2021, recommends Hannes Jacobsen (“has made a decisive contribution to the success of CBH’s IP practice“) as one of five attorneys-at-law (”Their increasing visibility and prowess in some of the country’s major cases over the past year mean all are well on their way to becoming the crème de la crème in their craft.”, “impressive patent litigators”). Legal 500 2021/2022 points out his “comprehensive expertise in IP law” and quotes: “Hannes Jacobsen is certainly one of the most talented litigators of his generation. Brilliant in his profession.”, “His accessability and professional expertise are on an excellent level as with others – but I would like to emphasize his commitment: Mr. Jacobsen makes his assessments in concrete terms and points out remaining risks. For in-house counsel, this attribute is extremely helpful, as risk assessments on alternative or chosen courses of action are also communicated within the company.” JUVE guide 2021/2022 quotes: “really gives it his all, is raising his profile” (competitor).

CBH’s patent litigation team is being recommended regularly: “The team of IP lawyers at this national full-service firm is very well established in the German patent market with two clear specialties. The Cologne team led by Jens Kunzmann enjoys an outstanding position in advice on employee invention law. In Munich, CBH has a well-regarded team for infringement proceedings and nullity suits led by senior partner Stephan Gruber and Hannes Jacobsen.” (JUVE Patent 2023); “The team of CBH has the client’s best interest in mind when advising on patent litigation. CBH’s attorneys cooperate with the client and the patent attorneys team to find solutions in line with the client’s economic goals”, “CBH’s team is optimally composed. Stephan Gruber is something of a legend in patent litigation and tangibly passes on his experience to his younger colleagues – when working together, I see that the team works excellently.” (Legal500 2023).
