Michael Knipper studied law at the University of Saarland. After his studies he became personal advisor to Prof Dr Günther Herion (Hoch-Tief AG), then President of the Federation of the German Construction Industry (Hauptverband der Deutschen Bauindustrie e.V.), in 1985 and subsequently Head of the Bonn-Berlin office. From 1992-1996 Michael Knipper was Managing Director of the Construction Industry Association Berlin-Brandenburg and in 1993 he merged the associations Berlin and Brandenburg to form a joint association. From 1996 onwards, Michael Knipper headed the management of the Federation of the German Construction Industry for 21 years until 31.12.2017.
Michael Knipper was a member of the board of the German Procurement and Contract Committee for Construction Services and the Research Institute for Economic Constitution and Competition Law.
