Paul H. Assies studied in Cologne and Nottingham. He is a Certified Specialist in Banking Law and the Law of Capital Markets and advises and represents public and private banks, other financial service enterprises and leasing companies. His work focuses as much on questions of investment advice concerning the regulated & grey capital markets and the law of credit as on questions of the law on banking supervision and leasing contracts.

Paul H. Assies is chairman of the Banking and Capital Markets Law Study Group of the German Lawyers' Association as well as of the Preliminary Examination Committee, for Certified Specialist Lawyers in Banking and Capital Markets Law of the Cologne Bar Association.

He is a lecturer at Düsseldorf's Heinrich Heine University, teaches at the Düsseldorf Law School and is also the editor and author of a number of books, such as the standard work “Handbook for Specialists in Banking Law and the Law of Capital Markets”, published by Luchterhand.

As an expert advisor Paul H. Assies is held in high regard by various savings banks and giro centre associations as well as other large further training institutions (e.g. Deutsche Anwalt Akademie, Finanzcolloquium Heidelberg).
